Merf. Thinking is Hard.: Whenever evangelist vegans or vegetarians go off into preachy mode..

…. and they have all these hypotheticals about being offered meat or dairy products, or stories about they’re ~so oppressed~ because they don’t eat meat, or hated or whatever, I’m like, whatever.

I don’t eat vegetables. Can’t, not without a violent gag reflex. So rather than try to embarrass…

See, I’ve actually been ‘oppressed’ for my vegetarianism. But the reason wasn’t because the bullies had something against vegetarians. It was because they were racist shits who were picking on an obvious point of difference between me and the white kids. Which is why I have epic side-eye for any white veg*ans who claim that their dietary choices are “marginalised”.

I suppose I have a choice about what I eat now that I don’t live with my family, but after a lifetime of not even viewing meat as food, I absolutely can’t look at it without feeling ill. So for me, vegetarianism has never been a choice.

And the only time that’s been a problem has been since I started my current job, which is in an industry dominated by white people (ironically, the non-profit industrial complex), where white people mostly don’t understand cultural/religious vegetarianism at all. So there are times when I’ve gone without whole meals because I couldn’t eat anything that was provided, despite telling people about my dietary/cultural needs.

But that’s a pretty far cry from actual oppression. Only people who’ve never experienced oppression would confuse the 2 things. Like polyamoury, being a “punk”, and Scottish/Irish/redhead “oppression,” veg*anism is just another type of fauxpression for white people to whinge about.
